Deadline broke the news that Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: Organic Intelligence reaches VOD on October 6, following the theatrical run that opened on August 7.

The release arrives through a new distribution partnership between Starboard Entertainment and Stonecutter Media, with further titles from the collaboration to be named in the months ahead. Stonecutter owner and president Steven Karel put the film in a slate built on “edgy, over-the-top” pictures. Starboard founder Thomas Zambeck pointed to the franchise’s worldwide fan base and “unmistakable identity” as the reason the two finally had the right project to do together.

Shot in Southern California and directed by David Ferino, the film brings back John Astin as Professor Gangreen, alongside David Koechner, Eric Roberts, Catherine Corcoran, Dan Bakkedahl, Myrna Velasco, Vernée Watson, Paul Bates, Zachary Roozen, Samantha Bailey and Noor Razooky.

It is produced in association with Atomic Toybox Entertainment and continues the series Costa Dillon and Steve Peace started in 1978 — this time on a biotech prodigy whose engineered vegetable, built to solve humanity’s greatest problems, gets away from her.
